Fix our eyes on Jesus

This morning I started off my morning with my usual feeding with Abigail and then a little snuggle time in bed. We ventured into the kitchen so I could have my hot cup of coffee, then off to wash my face and brush my teeth. Then, it is play time for Abigail and my time in the Word.
I have been finding myself thirsty every morning to get into Gods Word. It has been so refreshing. But, who can relate: when you are dedicated to studying Gods Word you slowly begin to get tested and taunted by the enemy?
Well, it never fails that Satan begins throwing things in my face, emotions, physical appearance when I am striving to grow and walk with God. As reading through the Old Testament I am greatly encouraged to keep persevering knowing that I serve a faithful God no matter what the circumstances are. As I was being attacked I was reading an email from someone that told me some very sad news. Her best friends husband had been cheating on her for over a year. This woke me up and brought much heaviness to my heart. It is so easy for us to get caught up in our own pity party and daily routines and forget about so many others out there who are hurting and going through much more difficult times than we could ever imagine.
We need to fix our eyes on Jesus every morning and keep the focus off our selves.
If you have been out of Gods Word for quite some time I encourage you to pick up your bible today and read for 15 minutes. You will be amazed what you will learn about God.

Old but still finding new

I guess I could call it a new years resolution...but really just starting at the new year seemed like a good time to start reading through the Old Testament. I have never read it all the way through, front to back. I have read many passages in the Old Testament and a few books all the way through, just not the whole Old Testament. I created a plan off one of our bible programs so I know how much to read a day up till next January. I am writing this not to boast, but so you can keep me accountable. You are welcome to ask me whenever you see me or write me how my reading is going. I know right now being off from school I have more time to devote to studying the Word. So, the challenge of keeping up with my quiet time will be when school starts. I did make it so when I read it is only Mon-Fri. As I am reading I am asking God to show me new things about Himself, and He already is. I have been underlining in pencil the new things that have been standing out to me. I wanted to try something so I will do it on here. I am going to write out all the new things that have been revealed to me. I know it will reveal things about God. (Now, this will only be from chapters 1-10, and as time goes on I will update what God is revealing to me)That is what I want from my quiet times. I want to know more about Him. I don't want to know more of what He can do for me....I want to get away from the individualistic side of my time in the Word. Can anyone relate?.......

NIV (what is in bold is what specifically stood out to me in that particular Scripture)
Chapter 1:
v. 14: And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons adn days and years.
v.16: God made two great lights-- the greater light to govern the day and the lesser ligh to govern the night.
v.18: To govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness.
v26.: Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creature that move along the ground. (This was not something new, just something that I like to be reminded of)
v29: Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plan on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. (Multiple times you will see the words from God--"I give"

Chapter 2
v.25: The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

Chapter3
v.1: Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made.

Okay, so typing this all out will take a lot of time. Lets see what we have so far in bold.
What do you see that I don't?
How do the words in bold speak to you?

A few things that I see about our God is that He is:
He is specific and He is a planner.
He is giving.
He is gracious enough to make us in His image.
He is in control of what He makes.
He gives direction.
He sees fit for a man and woman to be husband and wife.

Give it a try, while reading Scripture underline what stands out to you and see what it reveals to you about God. Amen!
